Application Guidelines for Student Poster Session

The student poster session is aimed at discussion and interaction between students and leading researchers of industry, academia, and government. "Excellent Poster Awards" are offered to poster presenters who would like to be reviewed; researchers in industry and academia review a poster presentation based on the following subjects, such as "presenter's contribution to research", "questions and answers", "originality and possibility for development of research". "Best Poster Awards (CSJ Chemistry Festa Awards)" are chosen among "Excellent Poster Awards". The winners will receive prize and will have an opportunity to publish their comments in "Kagaku-to Kogyou (Chemistry & Chemical Industry published by the Chemical Society of Japan) (Issue 1, January 2022). During CSJ Chemistry Festa, participants have an opportunity to interact with researchers in industry at "R&D exhibition booth" presented by industry, academia, and government R&D Introductory Planning Department. The oral session is organized for Ph.D. students this year too.

About Poster Presentation

■Presentation Content and Presenter's Qualification

In order to put emphasis on discussion, you may include the previously published contents. Poster presentations are only for students, and one student can apply for only one poster presentation.

■Web Conferencing System※Important※We do not use Remo

Zoom meeting. We will use breakout room function. Further details will be informed later.

■Presentation Time

60 minutes (1 poster session is 120 minutes. The first 1 hour for presenters whose last digit of the presentation number is an odd number and the latter 1 hour for presenters whose last digit of the presentation number is an even number.)

■Presentation Language

Japanese or English

Application categories of poster presentation is as follow.

■Poster(Presentation material) Specification

Aspect ratio(16:9), 1 page, to be shared as it is (presenter should not zoom in). Further details will be informed later.

■Poster Award

The organizing committee of CSJ Chemistry Festa reviews poster presentations, and "Best Poster Awards (CSJ Chemistry Festa Awards)" and "Excellent Poster Awards" are offered to poster presenters who would like to be reviewed. If you would like to be reviewed the poster presentation, please check "I would like to be reviewed" in your application.

■Copyright

The copyright relating to the contents in the abstracts belongs to The Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ). Therefore, when necessary, the copyright will be reprinted by CSJ's consideration. In addition, when an external organization applies for quotation, CSJ will consider application and allow quotation.

■Public Knowledge

If the date of publication for your patent is fixed by issue of the abstracts, rights are suspended for one year after the date of issuance. Please refer to this link how to obtain the certification for patent application. Publicly available contents on the Internet also corresponds to the public knowledge of your research.

Call for Paper

■Period

June 1(Tue.) Noon - July 7(Wed.) Noon, 2021

※In case the number of presentations exceeds the capacity, call for paper may be closed before July 7.

Please use the application form below for 1. Application and 2. Abstract Submission. 1 and 2 need not to be done at same time but note that application will be cancelled if abstract is not submitted within the deadline. If you cannot use the form, please contact the CSJ office as soon as possible. Please note that you cannot apply after the deadline. Application for oral session only is not accepted.

  • 1. Application
  • Information of presentation, poster awards, oral session, authors, payment (credit card, bank or post office) must be registered. After completing, "My Page" will be created.

  • 2. Abstract Submission
  • Abstract can be submitted right away after completing 1. or later through "My Page". Note that information of presentation such as presentation title should be the same in abstract and form.

※Revised abstract should be uploaded via "My Page". Do not make application again .

※Repetitive application must be deleted by the applicant.

※ If you cannot use the form, contact the CSJ office as soon as possible. Please note that you cannot apply after the deadline.

■Confirmation of Application

When completing application successfully, applicant will receive the following e-mails. If you have not received them, contact the CSJ office by e-mail. Please note that the CSJ office cannot respond after the deadline.

  • The 11th CSJ Chemistry Festa Notification of Application
  • This e-mail will be sent after application is completed to the e-mail address you registered. Registration Number(A21xxxx) and Password are necessary for "My Page" and "CSJ Chemistry Festa Event page". Also information about payment is available in the e-mail.

  • The 11th CSJ Chemistry Festa Notification of Abstract Acceptance
  • This e-mail will be sent after uploading your abstract. Revised abstract can be uploaded again through "My Page"

  • CSJ Chemistry Festa Poster Presentation Payment Completed
  • After the payment via credit card, you will receive an e-mail with URL where you can get receipt.

    After the payment via bank or post office is confirmed, you will receive an e-mail with URL where you can get receipt in early August.

■Acceptance of Paper and Arrangement of Programs

The organizing committee of CSJ Chemistry Festa will take charge of acceptance of papers and arrangement of programs (category, date and time, and others). Please note that arrangement of programs may not match your preference.

■Notification of Poster Number

The poster number is scheduled to be sent before August 2 by e-mail. If you have not received it, please be sure to contact the CSJ office.

■Withdrawal of Application

Withdrawal of your application disrupt the arrangement of programs. Please be sure to ask your supervisor to check the application details before your application. For whatever reason, replacement or withdrawal of your application is not allowed after the deadline.

■Change of Presenter

Please be sure to contact the CSJ office about change of the presenter. The change is only valid for co-authors listed in the program. In addition, the poster presentation is excluded from nomination for "Poster Awards" when the presenter changes.

Entry and Registration Fee

The entry fee is required for poster presenters. As it covers access to all of the sessions, you do not have to make registration to attend CSJ festa.

  • Student Member 5,000JPY (including tax)
  • Student Non-Member 7,000JPY (including tax)

※The entry fee is taxable.

※Please make sure that refund cannot be made after your payment.

A booklet (abstracts of poster session are not included) is available for 2,000JPY. PDF of the Program Book is possible to browse on this site. A booklet (abstracts of poster session are not included) is available for JPY2,000.

Please download and use the template. After preparation of the abstract using the template, convert your abstract to the PDF file.

※Note that application will be cancelled if abstract is not submitted within the deadline.

※Abstracts of the student poster session are not included in the Program (PDF/booklet) but are posted on the webpage of CSJ Chemistry Festa.

■Graphical Abstract

Graphical abstract at a glance is scheduled to open on event page for audiences to browse all the presentation just as on-site session from October 15. Further details will be informed later.

Oral Presentation (for Ph.D. Student only)

This session is aimed to encourage the Ph.D. student poster session participants through their oral presentation. It is also aimed to offer a place for them to interact with researchers, academia and government beyond generations, and other students.

  • Any Ph.D. student poster session participant is welcomed to apply for the oral session with the same content. Applicants should choose the oral session when applying for the student poster session.
  • Application is on first-come-first-served basis. In case the number of presentations exceeds 30, application may be closed before July 7.
  • Multiple applicants from one laboratory may be asked to reduce the number of presentations to one.
  • Oral session time is 12 minutes including 9 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for Q&A.
  • Presenters are required to attend and engage in discussion at all the presentations during your session.
  • "Excellent Oral Presentation Awards" will be offered to outstanding presentations. Researchers in industry and academia review oral presentation based on the following subjects, such as "originality and possibility for development of research", "presentation structure and clarity", "questions and answers".
  • Please note that Zoom meeting will be used for this session. Further details will be informed later.
