1447-1469  Molecular Simulations of Photoaddition Selectivity and Chirality in Challenging Photochemical Reactions
 K. Somekawa,* Y. Odo, and T. Shimo
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]   Free Access Article

Origins of challenging enantiodifferentiating isomerizations and inversions of cycloaddition regioselectivity at several photoreactions were elucidated by molecular simulation. The energy and stereochemical properties depending on the excited species and on the TS1 are revealing of hydrogen-bondings and the attractive parts.

1477-1484  A DFT and CASSCF Study of Photocycloaddition Reactions of Biradicals from 6-Amino-2-(3-thienoyl)-1,4-benzoquinone
 G. Sharma, I. Abraham, R. T. Pardasani,* P. V. Bharatam, and T. Mukherjee
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

Theoretical study of [3 + 2]/[2 + 2] photocycloaddition reactions of 6-amino-2-(3-thienoyl)-1,4-benzoquinone has been undertaken. The mechanism of feasible [3 + 2] photocycloaddition is explored by DFT and CASSCF methods. The key step in the mechanism is the intramolecular H transfer between amino and carbonyl group in the triplet excited state.

1485-1490  Local Structure around the Amino Group of Glycine Carbamate in Concentrated Aqueous Solutions
 Y. Kameda,* Y. Amo, and T. Usuki
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

Neutron diffraction measurements were carried out for 14N/15N isotopically substituted aqueous alkaline 2 mol % glycine solutions absorbing CO2. Information on the intra- and intermolecular structure around the amino nitrogen of the glycine carbamate was obtained.

1491-1496  Low-Frequency Isotropic Raman Spectra of Concentrated Aqueous KX (X: Cl, Br, NO3, and SCN) Solutions
 Y. Kameda,* M. Ishikawa, Y. Amo, and T. Usuki
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

The totally symmetrical stretching vibrational mode of hydrated K+, K+(H2O)n, was found at $\skew2\tilde{\nu}$ = 160–170 cm−1 by means of low-frequency isotropic Raman spectra observed for concentrated aqueous KCl, KBr, KNO3, and KSCN solutions.

1497-1505  Mononuclear Bis(tridentate)-Type and Dinuclear Triple Helicate Iron(II) Complexes Containing 2-Ethyl-5-methylimidazole-4-carbaldehyde Azine
 Y. Sunatsuki,* H. Maruyama, K. Fujita, T. Suzuki, M. Kojima,* and N. Matsumoto
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]   [Supporting Information]

Mononuclear and dinuclear triple helical iron(II) complexes with 2-ethyl-5-methylimidazole-4-carbaldehyde azine (H2L2-Et-5-Me) were prepared and their magnetostructural relationships were studied. [Fe(H2L2-Et-5-Me)2](ClO4)2·CH3OH was intrinsically in the HS state, while [Fe2(H2L2-Et-5-Me)3](ClO4)4·H2O exhibited a [LS–HS] ↔ [HS–HS] spin transition.

1506-1509  197Au Mössbauer Spectroscopic Studies of Cyclometalated Gold Dimers Containing 2-C6F4PPh2 Ligands
  M. A. Bennett, N. Mirzadeh, S. H. Privér, M. Takahashi, and S. K. Bhargava*
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

197Au Mössbauer spectra have been measured on a series of dinuclear gold complexes containing the 2-C6F4PPh2 ligand. The correlation plot indicates that the electron densities of gold atoms in these complexes are less than those of their protio analogues.

Web Release Date: December 10, 2009
1510-1513  Catalytic Electrosynthesis in Ionic Liquid: Performance of Nickel–(2,2′-Bipyridine) Complexes for Production of Aryl Propan-2-ones
 R. Barhdadi,* H. Maekawa, C. Comminges, and M. Troupel
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

The electroreductive coupling of a benzylic halide ArCH2Cl with an acyl donor (Ac2O or AcCl) reagent can afford a good method to obtain aryl propan-2-ones in an ionic liquid.

Web Release Date: December 10, 2009
1514-1519  Fluorescent Dyes with 2-Amino-4,7-diazaindole Skeleton: Synthesis and Spectroscopy
 D. T. Gryko,* J. Piechowska, V. Vetokhina, and D. Wójcik
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

The condensation of DBU with compounds possessing a 2,3-dichloropyrazine moiety has been studied. Spectroscopic properties of synthesized fluorescent dyes were investigated and analyzed. The dye formed from 5,6-dichloro-2,3-dicyanopyrazine exhibits a very large Stokes shift.

 Y. Mutoh, Y. Yamamoto, M. Wakioka, R. Takita, J. Nakamura, T. Iida, and F. Ozawa*
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

All-cis PPVs prepared by Suzuki–Miyaura-type polycondensation undergo photo-induced insolubilization in thin films, along with cis-to-trans isomerization of vinylene linkages to give all-trans PPVs. This phenomenon has been investigated in detail, using all-cis and all-trans PPVs with a range of molecular weights and terminal structures. It has been found that the all-cis configuration serves as a particularly important factor.
