Photochromism and Molecular Mechanical Devices
M. Irie
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)] Free Access Article

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]
 |
An organic salt of TMET-TTP derivatives, in which sulfur atoms of the inner TTP-skeleton are replaced by Se atoms, shows temperature-independent resistivity. This behavior is related to the enhanced HOMO population on the ethylenedithio part.

Magnetic Ordering in Organic-Radical Assemblies
M. Hatanaka* and R. Shiba
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]
 |
Ferromagnetic interactions in organic-radical assemblies were deduced under periodic boundary conditions. High-spin preferences in the ferromagnetic stacking modes were attributed to anti-parallel-spin instabilities in effective two-electron wave functions consisting of products of NBCOs (PNBCOs), analogous to non-Kekulé polymers.

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]
 |
The full non-rigid group (f-NRG) of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) has 13 dominant classes (similarly, Q-conjugacy characters) 9 of which are unmaturated (similarly, Q-conjugacy characters such that they are the sum of two irreducible characters).

Photoreductive Self-Assembly from [MoVI7O24]6− to Anti-Tumoral [H2MoV12O28(OH)12(MoVIO3)4]6− in Aqueous Media
T. Yamase* and E. Ishikawa
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)] [Supporting Information] Open Access Article
Prolonged photolysis of [MoVI7O24]6− in aqueous solutions provides the formation of anti-tumoral [H2MoV12O28(OH)12(MoVIO3)4]6− species, the core of which is the well-known ε-isomer ({ε-MoV12}) of the Keggin anion. It is also suggested that the formation of α-Keggin {MoVI12} accompanies photolysis.

Preparation of Tethered Palladium Catalysis Supported on Gold(111) and Its Surface Characterization by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS)
R. M. Gulam, M. Hamada, I. Takamiya, M. Shimoda, S. Shuto, A. Nishida, S. Tsukamoto, and M. Arisawa*
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]
 |
Tethered ligands confined on gold(111) substrate were used to construct heterogeneous palladium catalysts. The decreased catalytic activity upon recycling in the Mizoroki–Heck reaction and XPS results together suggest that S–Au bonds are too weak to survive the Mizoroki–Heck reaction conditions.
