Electrochemical Growth and Charge-Transport Properties of Polyaniline/Poly(styrenesulfonate) Composite Films

Teruhisa Komura,* Kouji Mori, Takahiro Yamaguchi, and Kousin Takahashi

Illustration

The impedance response of the composite film is reasonably explained by the diffusion-migration transport of both holes and protons. Changes in D with the oxidation and protonation levels of polyaniline suggest that the charge-transport rate is controlled by electron transport, which occurs via interchain electron hopping.

A CIDEP Study on the Photosensitized Reaction of Maleimide with Xanthone: Addition Effect of Hydrochloric Acid

Keishi Ohara,* Shin-ichi Nagaoka, and Kazuo Mukai

Illustration

The HCl addition effect on the CIDEP indicates the existence of two mechanisms for the photosensitization of maleimide by xanthone. One is a typical T-T energy transfer followed by a hydrogen-abstraction reaction. The other is an electron transfer to maleimide from the xanthone ketyl radical.

Yuji Miyazaki, Tetsuya Matsumoto, Takayuki Ishida, Takashi Nogami, and Michio Sorai*

Illustration

Heat capacity measurements by means of adiabatic calorimetry revealed that a ferromagnetic phase transition occurred at TC = 0.28 K and a short-range order effect above TC , which is well explained by the S = 1/2 two-dimensional ferromagnetic Heisenberg model of square lattice.

Masao Mukaida,*, Yoshinobu Sato, Hideji Kato, Mami Mori, Dai Ooyama, Hirotaka Nagao, and F. Scott Howell*

Illustration

Either cis -[Ru(NO. )(ONO2 )(bpy)2 ]+ or cis -[Ru(NO. )(CH3 CN)(bpy)2 ]2+ undergoes an oxygen-transfer reaction to give an identical cis -[Ru(NO2 )(CH3 CN)(bpy)2 ]+ , during the course of the degradations, but their reaction sequences monitored by HDV definitely differ. Possible mechanistic processes are proposed for both cases based on their degradation sequences, although a further detailed investigation is required.

The extraction constants of CuA2 were independent on the chain length of carboxylic acids, as expected from the theory that four kinds of the equilibrium constants, of which the extraction constant consists, can be compensated. However, Kdim-1 ( = [Cu2 A4 ]o /[CuA2 ]o2 ) were found to be dependent on the chain length.
