[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]  [Supporting Information]

Fluorescence of fluorescein located in the cages of a zeolite was not quenched by a quencher, whereas that of fluorescein adsorbed on the outer surface of the zeolite was effectively quenched, giving clear evidence for the location of fluorescein.

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

In this paper, the efficiency and thermodynamic stability for three types of reversible DNA photocrosslinked structures were compared. Moreover, two types of highly efficient methods, where were used to construct the comb-like DNA by using template-directed reversible DNA photocross-linking via 5-carbamoylvinyl-2′-deoxyuridine, are described.

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]  [Supporting Information]

Kinetically stabilized 1,1′-bis[(E)-diphosphenyl]ferrocenes were synthesized by taking advantage of extremely bulky substituents, 2,4,6-tris[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]phenyl (Tbt) and 2,6-bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-4-[tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl]phenyl (Bbt) groups, and characterized by the spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic analyses.

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

The self-organization of amphiphilic sexithiophenes bearing amide functionalities is studied and compared to that of the ester group counterparts. A derivative of the amide compound, bearing terminal ammonium groups, forms a complex with chiral polyanions in aqueous media such that the sexithiophene segments stack in a meta-stable helical fashion. Polyglutamate and DNA are able to generate these chiral assemblies.

 T. Ishikawa, T. Morita, and S. Kimura*
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

Novel helix-peptide wheels, in which three helices were connected by using a template, were prepared, and dipole–dipole interactions among helices were studied in relation to the formation of a planar triangle structure involving three helices.

Schizophyllan (SPG) could form a complex with antisense oligonucleotides (AS ODN). When importin-β, a nuclear transport protein was bound to SPG (through a streptavidin–biotin interaction), the complex was transported into nucleus and inhibited telomerase.

 Y. Shimodaira, H. Kato, H. Kobayashi, and A. Kudo*
[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

PbMo1−xCrxO4 exhibited visible light-driven photocatalytic activity for O2 evolution from an aqueous solution. On the basis of DFT calculations, the present study indicated that the formation of an electron-accepter level is one strategy for developing new visible light driven photocatalysts.

295-302 Organic Nanoparticles of Cyanine Dye in Aqueous Solution

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]  [Supporting Information]

We report the synthesis of ion-based organic dye nanoparticles in aqueous solution. The approach is based on “ion-association” in water between the pseudoisocyanine (PIC) dye cation and the tetraphenylborate or tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate anion. Size tuning of spherical PIC nanoparticles was accomplished by varying the molar ratio of the loaded anion to the dye cation.

[Full Text PDF(J-STAGE)]

Selective detection of glucose oxidation by glucose oxidase (GOx) was successfully carried out in the presence of ascorbic acid and uric acid by the AC impedance measurements using tris(2,2′-bipyridyl)osmium(II) chloride as an electron mediator (M).
