When p-tert-butylthiacalix[6]arene (H6L) was used as a clustering ligand, homonuclear CoII5 and NiII4 and heteronuclear MIINiII4 (M = Co, Mn, and Cu) complexes were synthesized. The latter were derived from a novel metal-induced core rearrangement reaction of NiII4.
